The anti-globalization movement has exploded in the last few years. Summits like the G-8 and other gatherings of world leaders have caused many activists to gather to protest what these gatherings stand for. Closest to home the protests made world news at Washington DC, Seattle, Quebec City, Halifax, and in the summer of 2002 Kannanaskis. I joined the protest armed with my camera filming anti-globalization activists at the G-7 rallies in Halifax, and the G-8 protests in Calgary, June 2002. Jimmy Dorey of Scarecrow Presents hosted a collection of musicians and speakers in a theater in uptown Calgary. Songs of Solidarity features musicians such as Bruce Cockburn, Brothers Kreagan, Blue Quarter, Chris Brown, Dale Ladoceur and more. Songs of Solidarity is a musical celebration, filmed in the rawest form with live music inter cut with scenes from the front lines.

The Evolve Music and Awareness Festival has become one of Canada’s premier live music and DJ festivals. 2002 was Evolve’s 2nd year and Greg Hemmings’ first music documentary, in fact this is the first independent production that Greg ever produced. Revolve documents the early days of the East coast live music festival scene and is jammed pack with live single cam and duel cam concert footage. This documentary was produced by Greg Hemmings, Chris Gorman and Randy Cable. Randy passed away recently and will be missed by many in the film and music communities. To celebrate the memory of Randy I have chosen to release my first production (as elementary as it is!) as a free download here. Please download and share it with all your friends who love music! An East Meets East Trade Mission (2006)

In the fall of 2005 filmmaker Greg Hemmings joined a trade mission of business and political leaders from Saint John New Brunswick as they explore new opportunities in trade relations in China. This documentary shows the spirit of a group from the developing maritime city as they excitedly explore the unknown.
